Senate Resolution 894
By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Rhett of the 33rd and Harbison of the 15th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Cotrina Yvette Echols Norris; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Cotrina Yvette Echols Norris honorably served as a gua rdian of this nation's2
freedom and liberty within the United States Army Reserve Nurse Corps, earning her3
commission in 1996 and exemplifying dedication to duty through her compassionate medical4
care; and5
WHEREAS, during her eight years of service as a critical care nurse, she participated in an6
overseas medical mission to Ecuador, during which she provided care to more than 7,0007
patients, and received the Army Commendation Medal; and8
WHEREAS, following her military career, she has sustained her l ifelong commitment to9
healthcare, veterans, and community well-being through ongoing service, volunteerism, and10
civic engagement; and11
WHEREAS, she has recently completed the Registered Nurse Reentry Program at Clayton12
State University, and she plans to continue serving those who have served this nation through13
future employment at a Veterans Hospital; and14

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this veteran and healthcare professional15
be appropriately honored for her military service and consisten t dedication to her fellow16
citizens.17
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18
recognize and commend Cotrina Yvette Echols Norris for her hono rable military service,19
dedication to healthcare, and her commitment to serving veterans and communities as well20
as extend best wishes for continued success.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Cotrina Yvette23
Echols Norris.24
