26 LC 47 4085/AP House Bill 1487 (AS PASSED HOUSE AND SENATE) By: Representatives Anderson of the 10th and Erwin of the 32nd A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend an Act to provide a new charter for the City of Cornelia, approved April 30, 20131 (Ga. L. 2013, p. 3841), so as to remove the millage rate cap; to provide for related matters; 2 to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:4 SECTION 1.5 An Act to provide a new charter for the City of Cornelia, approved April 30, 2013 (Ga. L.6 2013, p. 3841), is amended by revising Section 5.11 as follows:7 "SECTION 5.11.8 Millage.9 (a) The city commission by ordinance shall establish a millage rate for the city property10 tax, a due date, and the time period within which these taxes must be paid.11 (b) The city commission by ordinance may provide for the payme nt of these taxes by12 installments or in one lump sum, as well as authorize the voluntary payment of taxes prior13 to the time when due."14 H.
