26 LC 39 5022 House Resolution 1526 By: Representatives Mathis of the 133rd, Jasperse of the 11th, Powell of the 33rd, Smith of the 70th, Parrish of the 158th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing Representative James A. "Bubber" Epps, Jr., and dedicating an interchange in1 his honor; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Representative James A. "Bubber" Epps, Jr., has long been recognized by the3 citizens of this state for the vital role that he plays in lead ership in this state and his deep4 personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, Representative Epps served on the Twiggs County Board of Commissioners6 from 1983 to 1992 and on the Middle Georgia Regional Developmen t Center Board from7 1989 to 1992; and8 WHEREAS, he served as a member of the Georgia General Assembly from 2009 to 2019,9 representing the citizens of House District 144, and served as chairman of the House10 Committee on Motor Vehicles and House Committee on Small Business Development and11 secretary of the House Committee on Transportation during his tenure; and12 WHEREAS, in 2019, Representative Epps was appointed to the Middle Georgia Regional13 Commission Council, where his leadership and guidance earned hi m the respect and14 admiration of his colleagues and associates; and15 H. R. 1526 - 1 - 26 LC 39 5022 WHEREAS, Representative Epps has been known for his collaborati ve approach, steady16 leadership, consistent support of the Middle Georgia Regional Commission Council's staff17 and mission, and his enduring commitment to public service, regional cooperation, and the18 advancement of Middle Georgia communities through leadership in both the public and19 private sectors; and20 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this21 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recogniz ed by dedicating an22 interchange in his honor.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL24 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the interchange of I-16 and State Rout e 96 in Twiggs25 County is dedicated as the Representative Bubber Epps Interchange.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and27 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Representative Bubber Epps28 Interchange.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to 31 Representative James A.
