26 LC 129 1326 House Resolution 1600 By: Representatives Buckner of the 137th, Hugley of the 141st, Oliver of the 84th, and Smith of the 138th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Sheri Cody for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T.1 Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the fi rst African American3 female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of4 service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia5 Women's Legislative Caucus; and6 WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative7 Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify th e leadership and8 inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and9 WHEREAS, Sheri Cody has established a glowing reputation of renown throughout Georgia10 as the Executive Director of Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services, Inc.; and 11 WHEREAS, she passionately oversees work in Columbus, Macon, and LaGrange, Georgia,12 as well as Opelika and East Alabama, providing diverse programs , including foster care,13 advocacy, community and prevention services, as well as residential services; and14 H. R. 1600 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1326 WHEREAS, Sheri manages an organization with a substantial financial footprint, overseeing15 total annual revenues that reached approximately $14.8 million in 2024; and16 WHEREAS, her public advocacy work includes serving as Vice President of the Board of17 Together Georgia and involvement in legislative sessions at the Georgia State Capitol, where18 she advocates for child welfare services and funding; and19 WHEREAS, combining operational leadership with direct legislative advocacy to support20 at-risk youth and families, Sheri has been a key voice in Georgia's child welfare legislative21 landscape; and 22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23 extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body congratulate and commend Sheri Cody fo r receiving the 202626 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and exten d best wishes for her27 continued success.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Sheri30 Cody.31 H.
