26 LC 112 3787 Senate Resolution 913 By: Senators Howard of the 35th, James of the 28th, Rhett of the 33rd, Anderson of the 43rd and Davenport of the 17th A RESOLUTION Commending and congratulating Debra Howard; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Debra Howard was born on March 5, 1951, and this year she enjoys the2 delightful distinction of celebrating her 75th birthday; and3 WHEREAS, following her retirement after a 36-year career as a human resources manager4 with Consolidated Edison Company in New York City, Debra Howard and her husband,5 Nathaniel, relocated to Smyrna, Georgia, in December 2012, wher e they have since made6 their home in the Vinings community; and7 WHEREAS, she is an active and devoted member of Turner Chapel A M E C h u r c h i n8 Marietta, Georgia, where she serves faithfully with the Golden Agers' Ministry and9 represents the church in collaborative efforts within the AME district; and10 WHEREAS, she has consistently extended her service beyond her c hurch, dedicating her11 time to community volunteerism, jobseeker coaching, civic engag ement within her12 homeowners association, advocacy for individuals with mental di sabilities through her13 leadership with NAMI Cobb, and support for educational opportun ity through her14 involvement with POSSE Atlanta; and15 S. R. 913 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3787 WHEREAS, a kind and generous person, Debra Howard brings joy an d happiness to her16 family and to the many friends and neighbors who have the great pleasure of knowing her;17 and18 WHEREAS, she has witnessed a dramatic change in the world over the course of her19 lifetime, and we salute her contributions to its progress through her tireless efforts on behalf20 of her community and extended family; and21 WHEREAS, by the example Debra Howard has made of her life, she makes this world a22 better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and prope r that she be appropriately23 honored during this very special and memorable time.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25 commend Debra Howard for her unselfish, dedicated, and loving service to the members of26 her family and community; congratulate her on the remarkable occasion of her 75th birthday;27 and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Debra Howard.30 S.
