26 LC 129 1329 House Resolution 1592 By: Representatives Cannon of the 58th, Taylor of the 92nd, Alexander of the 66th, Adesanya of the 43rd, Hugley of the 141st, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Deborah VanTrece; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Deborah VanTrece is a revolutionary chef, author, entr epreneur, television2 personality, and community leader; and 3 WHEREAS, her journey began in 1994 when she graduated as valedi ctorian from the Art4 Institute's culinary program, and quickly rose to prominence, s erving as Executive Chef5 during the Centennial Olympics in Atlanta; and6 WHEREAS, in 1998, she opened Edible Art, a restaurant and catering business that became7 an East Atlanta institution and helped establish the neighborhood as a cultural hub; and8 WHEREAS, in 2014, she launched Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours, earning critical9 acclaim from the Cooking Channel's Late Nite Eats and Genius Ki tchen's Carnivorous, as10 well as being named one of the Best New Restaurants in Atlanta by The Georgia Voice; and 11 WHEREAS, Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours, her flagship restaurant, continues to redefine12 Southern cuisine, earning a place in the 2023 and 2024 Michelin Guide; and13 H. R. 1592 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1329 WHEREAS, in 2024, she debuted as the lead chef at the Centurion Lounge at14 Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport; and15 WHEREAS, her exemplary work was showcased at the James Beard House and has earned16 her recognition from Zagat as well as features in The New York Times, Bon Appétit, Food17 & Wine, and Garden & Gun; and18 WHEREAS, as the star of "Global Soul Kitchen," she uses her pla tform to celebrate the19 contributions of the African Diaspora to American cuisine as well as mentor young chefs and20 promote sustainable farming; and21 WHEREAS, through her restaurants, television series, and commun ity initiatives, she22 continues to inspire with her bold vision, redefining what it means to feed the soul; and23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this24 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body recognize and commend Deborah VanTrece and extend the most27 sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30 Deborah VanTrece.31 H.
