26 LC 64 0089 House Resolution 1603 By: Representatives McClain of the 109th, Okoye of the 102nd, Mitchell of the 88th, Adeyina of the 110th, and Beckles of the 96th A RESOLUTION Recognizing September 21, 2026, as the International Day of Peace and Ms. Global Peace1 Ambassador Day; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the International Day of Peace is observed annually on September 21, having3 been established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981 and designated in 20014 as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace through g lobal ceasefire and5 nonviolence; and6 WHEREAS, the principles of peace, reconciliation, justice, ethi cal governance, human7 dignity, and international cooperation are foundational to stable communities and thriving8 societies; and9 WHEREAS, women globally have historically served and continue t o serve as essential10 architects of peacebuilding, humanitarian advancement, communit y restoration,11 cross-cultural engagement, and ethical leadership; and 12 WHEREAS, research and international policy frameworks affirm th at the meaningful13 inclusion of women in leadership and diplomatic processes strengthens peace outcomes and14 fosters sustainable development; and15 H. R. 1603 - 1 - 26 LC 64 0089 WHEREAS, the initiative known as Ms. Global Peace Ambassador has been established as16 a distinguished international leadership platform designed to recognize and activate women17 committed to advancing peace diplomacy, humanitarian service, e ducation, and global18 collaboration; and 19 WHEREAS, the collaborating organizations associated with this i nitiative promote20 leadership development, cross-border engagement, educational empowerment, humanitarian21 advancement, and ethical governance; and 22 WHEREAS, the designation of Ms. Global Peace Ambassador affirms a commitment to23 unity, reconciliation, justice centered leadership, nonviolence, and measurable community24 transformation; and 25 WHEREAS, recognizing Ms. Global Peace Ambassador Day on Septemb er 21 creates a26 meaningful connection between local, state, national, and international peace initiatives. 27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body:29 (1) Recognize September 21, 2026, as International Day of Peace , in alignment with the30 observance established by the United Nations;31 (2) Recognize September 21, 2026, as Ms. Global Peace Ambassado r Day, honoring32 distinguished women leaders and global advocates who exemplify peace centered33 leadership, humanitarian service, ethical governance, and international cooperation;34 (3) Encourage citizens, educational institutions, faith based organizations, civic bodies,35 nonprofit organizations, and business leaders to observe this d ay through peace forums,36 youth leadership initiatives, interfaith gatherings, humanitari an outreach programs,37 educational symposiums, and Peace Ambassador induction ceremonies; and 38 H. R. 1603 - 2 - 26 LC 64 0089 (4) Recognize individuals designa ted as Ms. Gl obal Peace Ambass adors to serve as39 advocates for unity, reconciliation, diplomacy, and global coop eration within their40 communities and spheres of influence.41 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized42 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the43 public and the press.44 H.
