A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Patrick Dennis Gilligan; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Patrick Dennis Gilligan on January 28, 2026; and3
WHEREAS, Patrick Dennis Gilligan was born on June 8, 1943, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a4
beloved son of Charles Gilligan and Frances Kramer; and5
WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United6
States Air Force and Air Force Reserves, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow7
Americans for over 20 years; and 8
WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Patrick Dennis Gilligan was a devoted member9
of Calvary Road Baptist Church in Virginia and First Redeemer Church in Georgia; and 10
WHEREAS, he is the proud father of four wonderful children, Rob in, Jamie, Emily and11
Dayna, and three remarkable grandchildren, Luke, Noah, and Anthony; and12

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern13
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his14
family and friends were admired by others; and15
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation16
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he17
made this world a better place in which to live; and18
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Patrick Dennis Gill igan will long be19
remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who20
had the great fortune of knowing him.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22
join in honoring the life and memory of Patrick Dennis Gilligan and express their deepest23
and most sincere regret at his passing.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the family of26
Patrick Dennis Gilligan.27
