26 LC 112 3799 House Resolution 1591 By: Representatives Werkheiser of the 157th, DeLoach of the 167th, Hitchens of the 161st, and Burns of the 159th A RESOLUTION Commending The Claxton Enterprise; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, The Claxton Enterprise was established in December 1912, more than two years2 before the creation of Evans County, Georgia, in August 1914; and3 WHEREAS, under the guiding hand of its current editor and publisher, Mickey Peace, and4 with the exemplary work ethic demonstrated daily by its dedicat ed employees, this5 outstanding newspaper has grown immensely since its founding; and6 WHEREAS, The Claxton Enterprise has earned numerous honors and accolades over the last7 century, including the prestigious Freedom of Information award presented by the Georgia8 Press Association in 2003; and9 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this10 extraordinary publication be appropriately recognized.11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that12 the members of this body commend The Claxton Enterprise for its more than 100 years of13 service as well as extend best wishes for continued success.14 H.
