A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Georgia Symphony Orchestra for 75 years of exceptional1
artistry, 20 years of dedication to youth education through the Georgia Youth Symphony2
Orchestras, and its ongoing commitment to innovation; and for other purposes.3
WHEREAS, for 75 years, the Georgia Symphony Orchestra (GSO) has been an integral part4
of the cultural fabric of the State of Georgia, enriching the l ives of residents through5
exceptional performances, community engagement, and a steadfast commitment to making6
music accessible to all; and7
WHEREAS, since its founding in 1951, the GSO has brought togeth er professional8
musicians, dedicated volunteers, and passionate supporters to p rovide world-class9
symphonic, jazz, and choral music experiences that inspire, con nect, and uplift our10
community; and11
WHEREAS, the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestras (GYSO), founded in 2006 as an12
educational division of the GSO, has for 20 years nurtured the musical talents of thousands13
of young people across the region, offering transformative learning opportunities that foster14
discipline, creativity, and leadership among the next generation; and15

WHEREAS, under the artistic leadership of Music Director Timothy Verville for the past 1016
years, the GSO has been recognized for its innovation, artistic excellence, and pioneering17
programs, including sensory-friendly concerts, family programmi ng, and initiatives that18
expand access to music for underserved communities; and19
WHEREAS, the Georgia Symphony Orchestra continues to serve as a cultural ambassador,20
attracting audiences from across the region, strengthening the local economy, and enhancing21
the quality of life for residents of all ages through the power of music.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23
the members of this body recognize and commend the Georgia Symphony Orchestra for 7524
years of dedicated service to our community, 20 years of commit ment to youth education25
through the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestras, and 10 years of artistic leadership and26
innovation under Timothy Verville, and extend their deepest gra titude for their invaluable27
contributions to the cultural vitality of the State of Georgia.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the30
Georgia Symphony Orchestra.31
