26 LC 112 3802 House Resolution 1606 By: Representatives Huddleston of the 72nd, Smith of the 18th, and Howard of the 71st A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative upon its 90th anniversary; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, established in 1936, the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative has provided3 its members with safe, reliable, and affordable power for the last 90 years; and4 WHEREAS, this distinguished organization was formed following the creation of the Rural5 Electrification Administration by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and spearheaded by Robert6 D. Tisinger, who led the electrification movement in West Georgia; and7 WHEREAS, on July 31, 1937, its first section of line provided power to 344 members, and8 as of today, the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative serves more than 56,000 members9 across Carroll, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk, Troup, and Floyd counties; and10 WHEREAS, through more than 5,500 miles of line and 25 substations, the Carroll Electric11 Membership Cooperative continues to e nhance the quality of life and provide innovative12 solutions for the communities it serves; and13 H. R. 1606 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3802 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le cooperative be14 appropriately honored during this special time.15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that16 the members of this body congratulate the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative upon17 its 90th anniversary and extend best wishes for many more years of successful operation.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized19 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the20 Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative.21 H.
