26 LC 112 3719 House Resolution 1588 By: Representatives Flournoy of the 74th, Au of the 50th, Roberts of the 52nd, Campbell of the 35th, and Santos of the 117th A RESOLUTION Commending Halo Sky McGuffie, Drew McGuffie, Shannon McGuffie, and Melody Reign1 McGuffie for their life, courage, and advocacy; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Halo Skye McGuffie entered this world with a spirit that touched her family,3 community, and all who heard her story; and4 WHEREAS, although her time on earth was brief, Halo Skye brought profound love, hope,5 and connection to those around her, reminding us of the preciousness of every moment; and6 WHEREAS, her family carried her with unwavering strength, faith, and tenderness, ensuring7 that her life—though short—was surrounded by immense love; and8 WHEREAS, Halo Skye's legacy continues to inspire compassion and awareness for the9 countless families who experience infant loss, and her memory serves as a reminder of the10 need for supportive, understanding, and responsive care for grieving parents; and11 WHEREAS, Drew, Shannon, and Melody Reign McGuffie have demonstrated extraordinary12 courage, strength, and transparency in sharing their deeply personal experience with the loss13 of precious life; and14 H. R. 1588 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3719 WHEREAS, by bravely telling their story, Drew and Shannon McGuffie have helped shed15 light on the urgent need for improved maternal health care, increased awareness, and stronger16 public policy to protect mothers and families; and17 WHEREAS, their willingness to transform personal grief into pub lic purpose embodies18 resilience, compassion, and a commitment to ensuring that other families do not endure19 similar loss; and20 WHEREAS, their work contributes meaningfully to the ongoing effort to reduce infant and21 maternal mortality and improve health outcomes for women across this state; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the life of Halo Skye, to uplift her23 family, and to recognize the enduring impact she leaves behind.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body commend Halo Sky McGuffie, Drew McGuff ie, Shannon26 McGuffie, and Melody Reign McGuffie for their strength of life, courage in sharing their27 story, and their steadfast advocacy in the fight against infant and maternal mortality.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Drew30 and Shannon McGuffie.31 H.
