26 LC 112 3812 Senate Resolution 908 By: Senators Williams of the 25th, McNeel of the 18th, Burns of the 23rd, Anderson of the 24th and Brass of the 6th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Ms. Abigail Savoie; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Ms. Abigail Savoie grew up in Fayette County, Georgia, playing soccer,2 cheerleading, swimming, and running; and3 WHEREAS, she attended Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, which she4 affectionately referred to as "Milli," and was an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta5 Sorority; and6 WHEREAS, Ms. Savoie studied public health and had hopes of join ing the Centers for7 Disease Control and Prevention upon graduation, where she could put her compassion and8 heart into helping others; and9 WHEREAS, she was a people person who cared for the well-being of other people, always10 the first to help out another in need; and11 WHEREAS, Ms. Savoie's life was tragically cut short on October 21, 2022, when her vehicle12 was struck at the intersection of GA 16 and High Falls Road and England Chapel Road near13 Jackson, Georgia, by a driver who ran a stop sign; and14 S. R. 908 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3812 WHEREAS, although the loss of this smart, energetic, and beautiful soul can never be filled,15 her death called attention to the other numerous accidents at t he intersection where her16 vehicle was struck and resulted in plans to convert the intersection into a safer roundabout,17 likely saving the lives of other motorists; and18 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Ms. Abigail Savoie will long be19 remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who20 had the great fortune of knowing her.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22 join in honoring the life and memory of Ms. Abigail Savoie and express their deepest and23 most sincere regret at her passing.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Ms.26 Abigail Savoie.27 S.
