26 LC 112 3841 Senate Resolution 914 By: Senators Jackson of the 41st, Jones II of the 22nd, Parent of the 44th, Brass of the 6th, Wicks of the 34th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the United States Women's National I ce Hockey Team for1 their historic gold medal victory at the 2026 Winter Olympics; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in the year 2026, on the world's grandest stage of int ernational athletic3 competition, the United States Women's National Ice Hockey Team represented this nation4 with courage, determination, and unwavering resolve at the Olym pic Winter Games in5 Milano-Cortina, Italy; and6 WHEREAS, in a championship contest that will be remembered as one of the most thrilling7 in Olympic history, Team USA d efeated their longtime rivals fro m Canada in a dramatic8 overtime victory to capture the gold medal; and9 WHEREAS, this hard-fought triumph marked the third Olympic gold medal in the proud10 history of the United States Women's Hockey program and reaffir med America's place11 among the elite in international competition; and12 WHEREAS, the team demonstrated extraordinary resilience, mounting a late comeback in13 the gold medal game and displaying the grit, unity, and perseve rance that define the14 American spirit; and15 S. R. 914 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3841 WHEREAS, veteran leadership and emerging talent combined seamlessly, exemplified by16 captain Hilary Knight and her teammates, whose skill, selflessness, and dedication inspired17 millions of Americans watching at home and abroad; and18 WHEREAS, the team's success is the result of years of sacrifice, disciplined preparation, and19 an unbreakable commitment to excellence, serving as a powerful example to young20 athletes—especially young women—across this nation; and21 WHEREAS, at a time when moments of unity are deeply cherished, the United States22 Women's National Ice Hockey Team brought Americans together in celebration and pride,23 reminding us all of what can be accomplished when teamwork and determination prevail;24 and25 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordi nary accomplishments of26 these remarkable athletes be appropriately honored.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28 recognize and commend the United States Women's National Ice Ho ckey Team for their29 historic gold medal victory at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games an d for their outstanding30 representation of the United States of America.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the33 press.34 S.
