26 LC 112 3839 House Resolution 1613 By: Representatives Adeyina of the 110th and Okoye of the 102nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the City of Grayson on the celebrati on of its 125th1 Anniversary; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the City of Grayson, located in Gwinnett County, Georgia, stands as a vibrant3 and growing community that has proudly served its residents and contributed to the progress4 of our state for more than a century; and5 WHEREAS, the area that would become Grayson has deep historical roots, first settled by6 pioneering families in the 19th century, including the McConnell and Billue families, whose7 vision and determination helped establish a thriving rural community; and8 WHEREAS, the community originally developed around a small settlement known as Trip,9 where Reverend James Patterson McConnell established a store and the first post office in10 1881, laying the foundation for a town that would grow and flourish; and11 WHEREAS, on December 6, 1901, the Georgia General Assembly officially incorporated12 the town and approved the name Grayson, marking the beginning o f a proud municipal13 history defined by civic pride, service, and community spirit; and14 H. R. 1613 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3839 WHEREAS, throughout its history, Grayson has maintained a stron g sense of community15 supported by its churches, schools, civic organizations, and re sidents who have worked16 together to build a welcoming and thriving city; and17 WHEREAS, today the City of Grayson continues to flourish as a dynamic community known18 for its strong neighborhoods, commitment to family values, and dedication to responsible19 growth and economic vitality; and20 WHEREAS, the city's continued success is guided by the outstanding leadership of Mayor21 Allison Wilkerson and the members of the Grayson City Council: Bob Foreman, James22 Gillespie, Rochelle Wright, and Gene Ussery, whose dedication t o public service and23 stewardship has strengthened the city and improved the quality of life for its residents; and24 WHEREAS, the year 2026 marks the 125th Anniversary of the City of Grayson, a milestone25 that provides an opportunity to celebrate the city's rich history, honor the contributions of its26 residents, and look forward to a bright and prosperous future.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body recognize and commend the City of Grayson on the occasion of29 its 125th Anniversary and extend sincere congratulations and be st wishes for continued30 prosperity and success in the years ahead.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the33 public and the press.34 H.
