26 LC 112 3832 House Resolution 1618 By: Representatives Dunahoo of the 31 st, Erwin of the 32 nd, Persinger of the 119 th, and Gaines of the 120th A RESOLUTION Commending the wrestling programs of Jackson County High School , Jefferson High1 School, Commerce High School, and East Jackson High School for their outstanding2 accomplishments during the 2026 GHSA wrestling season; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, Jackson County High School, Jefferson High School, Commerce High School,4 and East Jackson High School demonstrated exceptional skill, di scipline, and competitive5 excellence during the 2026 GHSA wrestling season, qualifying a combined 45 wrestlers to6 compete among the state's top athletes and producing 10 individual state champions; and7 WHEREAS, Jefferson High School continued its long-standing trad ition of excellence by8 winning the 2026 GHSA Class 3A Traditional Wrestling Team State Championship, securing9 the program's 26th traditional state title, and earlier in the season, the team captured the 202610 GHSA Class 3A Team Duals State Championship, the program's 26th duals title and the11 most of any school; and12 WHEREAS, East Jackson High School achieved a historic milestone by winning the 202613 GHSA Class 2A Traditional Wrestling Team State Championship, the first traditional team14 state title in the program's history, following an impressive s eason that also included a15 runner-up finish in the 2026 GHSA Class 2A Team Duals State Championship; and16 H. R. 1618 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3832 WHEREAS, the Commerce High School wrestling program continued its proud competitive17 tradition by finishing second in its classification at the 2026 GHSA Traditional Wrestling18 State Championships and advancing to the semifinals of the 2026 GHSA Team Duals State19 Championships; and20 WHEREAS, the Jackson County High School wrestling program likew ise demonstrated21 exceptional competitive strength during the 2026 GHSA wrestling season by advancing to22 the semifinals of the 2026 GHSA Team Duals State Championships in its classification and23 finishing eighth at the 2026 GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championships; and24 WHEREAS, these remarkable accomplishments stand as testament to the dedication of these25 student-athletes, coaches, families, and communities, representing a proud achievement for26 Jackson County and the State of Georgia.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body commend the wrestling programs of Jackson County High School,29 Jefferson High School, Commerce High School, and East Jackson H igh School for their30 outstanding accomplishments during the 2026 GHSA wrestling seas on and extend best31 wishes for their continued success.32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized33 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to34 Jackson County High School, Jefferson High School, Commerce Hig h School, and East35 Jackson High School.36 H.
