A RESOLUTION
Recognizing May 5, 2026, as Georgia Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County Day; and1
for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County (JLGHC), founded by Idalu Slack3
in 1951, is dedicated to shaping a future where leadership by w omen transforms lives and4
strengthens communities across Northeast Georgia; and5
WHEREAS, the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County is composed of women who are6
committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving7
the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers; and8
WHEREAS, founded to address critical needs in Northeast Georgia, JLGHC has a long and9
distinguished history of service, civic engagement, and philant hropic leadership that has10
strengthened families, enriched educational opportunities, and enhanced the quality of life11
for residents throughout Northeast Georgia; and12
WHEREAS, the JLGHC has successfully spearheaded countless initiatives including but not13
limited to the Gateway Domestic Violence Center, the Edmondson Telford Child Advocacy14
Center, Northeast Georgia Speech and Hearing Center, Elachee Na ture Science Center,15

WomenSource, Publishing of Perennials Cookbook, and the Annual Charity Ball––all of16
which have served tens of thousands of women and children in Gainesville-Hall County; and17
WHEREAS, the JLGHC has championed major community efforts, most notably the Diaper18
Bank of North Georgia, which was founded in 2018 and has delivered more than one million19
diapers to support babies and families in need; and20
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the contributions of the JLGHC be recognized and21
celebrated for their vital role in advancing civic leadership b y women and community22
well-being in Northeast Georgia.23
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body24
recognize May 5, 2026, as Georgia Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County Day to honor25
and celebrate 75 years of leadership by women in our community.26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the28
press.29
