A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of Mr. Kevin "Catfish" Jackson and dedicating an intersection in his1
memory; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Mr. Kevin "Catfish" Jackson graduated from Cartersvill e High School and3
attended the University of Georgia where he was a three year letterman on the University of4
Georgia football team, a member of the 1980 National Championsh ip team, the 1982 and5
1983 Southeastern Conference Championship teams, and voted co-captain of the 1983 team;6
and7
WHEREAS, his athleticism and leadership were recognized with th e prestigious Wallace8
Butts Award and he served as a graduate assistant coach under Vince Dooley; and9
WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson's vision and guidance were instrumental to numerous10
organizations, including United Community Bank, Bethesda Academy, CURE for Childhood11
Cancer, Savannah Technical College, the Savannah Economic Development Authority, and12
Rotary Club of Savannah; and13
WHEREAS, he was honored with numerous awards and recognitions, including the14
Savannah State Award of Excellence for Noteworthy Entrepreneurship, the Sheriff's Award15

of Excellence, the Savannah Business Hall of Fame Junior Achiev ement Award, and16
Dancing with The Stars "People's Choice Award" for Alzheimer's; and17
WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson served on the Georgia Economic Development Board, the Lottery18
Board, the Georgia Ports Authority Board, and the Department of Natural Resources Board;19
and20
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished21
Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating an intersection in his memory.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL23
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 26/US- 80 and Johnny24
Mercer Boulevard in Chatham County is dedicated as the Kevin "Catfish" Jackson Memorial25
Intersection.26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and27
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Kevin "Catfish" Jackson28
Memorial Intersection.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed30
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr.31
Kevin "Catfish" Jackson and to the Department of Transportation.32
