A RESOLUTION
Congratulating and commending Carolyn M. Wright for receiving t he 2026 Yellow Rose1
Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the fi rst African American3
female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of4
service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia5
Women's Legislative Caucus; and6
WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative7
Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify th e leadership and8
inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and9
WHEREAS, Carolyn M. Wright is a trailblazer in coaching and edu cation who has spent10
more than 40 years shaping young athletes across basketball, volleyball, and track; and11
WHEREAS, she spent 32 seasons at Central High School in Phenix City, where she guided12
the Lady Red Devils to four Final Four appearances at the Alaba ma High School Athletic13
Association State Tournament, 12 Sweet Sixteen appearances, nine Elite Eight appearances,14
and 18 state tournament appearances overall; and15

WHEREAS, she is a member of the exclusive 600-win basketball club with a total record of16
605-387, and her 33-year-long athletic coaching career in the S tate of Alabama played a17
major role in helping over 200 athletes attain scholarships to colleges and universities; and18
WHEREAS, Carolyn M. Wright is one of only five African American female coaches19
enshrined in the history of the Alabama High School Athletic Sports Hall of Fame, and she20
was recently inducted into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame alongside her21
husband, Bobby, the first couple ever to be inducted on the same day; and22
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23
extraordinary servant leader be appropriately honored.24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25
the members of this body congratulate and commend Carolyn M. Wright for receiving the26
2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and extend best wishes for27
her continued success.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30
Carolyn M. Wright.31
