A RESOLUTION
Honoring the extraordinary lives and the remarkable 81-year marriage of Gene Brinson and1
Dovie Brinson; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Gene Brinson and Dovie Brinson were united in holy matrimony on February3
14, 1945, in Parker, Indiana, beginning a lifelong covenant of love, faith, and devotion that4
has now spanned more than 81 years; and5
WHEREAS, married at just 17 years of age, they chose commitment and faith as their6
foundation, knowing that Gene would soon be drafted to serve in World War II upon turning7
18, and their courage and devotion to one another during that p ivotal time laid the8
groundwork for a lifetime of steadfast partnership; and9
WHEREAS, throughout their marriage, Gene and Dovie have faithfu lly put God first in10
every aspect of their lives, and at 98 years of age, they continue to study God's Word, serving11
as a shining example of enduring faith and spiritual commitment; and12
WHEREAS, their union has been abundantly blessed with six children—Carolyn, Ron, Don13
(spouse Christine), John (spouse Cindy), Connie, and Rick (spouse Angela)—all of whom14
are living and continue to carry forward the values instilled by their parents; and15

WHEREAS, their legacy extends to 15 grandchildren—Sherry, Ralph , Michael, LeAnn,16
Skylar, David, Dawn, Jason, Ryan, Michelle, Josh, Matt, Megan, Kori, and Kelsey—along17
with more than 20 great-grandchildren, and they are further ble ssed to be great-great18
grandparents and great-great-great grandparents to three; and19
WHEREAS, after enjoying retirement in Silver Springs, Florida, they returned to Georgia20
more than five years ago to be closer to family, now regularly surrounded by two of their21
sons, four grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; and22
WHEREAS, their 81 years of marriage represent not only a rare and extraordinary milestone23
but also a living testimony of steadfast love, resilience throu gh generations of change,24
devotion to faith, and unwavering commitment to family; and25
WHEREAS, Gene and Dovie Brinson's lives embody the highest ideals of marriage, service,26
faith, and family values that strengthen communities and inspire all who know their story.27
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28
honor and commend Gene Brinson and Dovie Brinson on the celebra tion of their 81st29
wedding anniversary and express profound appreciation for the example of lifelong love and30
faithfulness they continue to demonstrate.31
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Gene Brinson and33
Dovie Brinson.34
