A RESOLUTION
Commending and congratulating Grant Penner; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Grant Penner has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the most distinguished rank2
conferred by Scouting America; and3
WHEREAS, a candidate for the most exceptional award in scouting must complete a4
rigorous program of training and demonstrate his proficiency in selected scouting techniques5
and the attainment of the highest ideals of scouting; and6
WHEREAS, only one scout out of 97 ever reaches this lofty level of achievement, and Grant7
has ably evidenced his aptitude and competency in mastering the various special skills taught8
through the Scouts BSA program; and9
WHEREAS, this hard-working young man has demonstrated great lea dership skills and10
initiative and has truly exhibited a commitment to the scouting principles of honesty and11
fairness during his years with the Scouts BSA program; and12

WHEREAS, to earn this prestigious award, Grant completed an Eagle project to build four13
reusable hardwood A-Frame signs for Bub's Run, a not-for-profit 5K fun run held annually14
to raise funds for various youth health groups; and15
WHEREAS, the perseverance and determination displayed by this exceptional young leader16
set an example for all Georgians, and great success is surely in this young man's future.17
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18
the members of this body commend Grant Penner for his diligence and dedication in19
pursuing the highest honor awarded by Scouting America and congratulate him on attaining20
the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Grant23
Penner.24
