26 LC 112 3805 House Resolution 1652 By: Representative Martin of the 49th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 28, 2026, as Turner Syndrome Awareness Day ; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Turner Syndrome is a non-inheritable chromosomal disor der that causes an3 increased risk of non-verbal learning disorder, which can result in delays or impairments in4 cognitive processing, visuospatial skills, executive function, and job retention; and5 WHEREAS, Turner Syndrome manifests in approximately one out of every 2,500 live6 female births, and early diagnosis via complete cardiac screening is critical for preventing7 or remediating potential growth failure, hearing problems, and learning difficulties; and8 WHEREAS, the associated risk for acute dissection, a life-threatening emergency caused by9 a tear in the aorta, is increased by more than 100-fold in young and middle-aged women with10 Turner Syndrome; and11 WHEREAS, with the help of medical specialists and good social support systems, women12 with Turner Syndrome can live happy, healthy lives; and13 H. R. 1652 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3805 WHEREAS, despite the benefits of early screening, a disproporti onately small amount of14 funding is available for Turner Syndrome research and support; and15 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to acknowledge thi s day as an opportunity16 to raise public awareness about Turner Syndrome.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body recognize February 28, 2026, as Turner Syndrome Awareness Day.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the21 public and the press.22 H.
