A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of Senator Ben Joseph "Joey" Brush, Jr., and dedicating an intersection in1
his memory; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Senator Ben Joseph "Joey" Brush, Jr., has long been recognized by the citizens3
of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadersh ip and his deep personal4
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5
WHEREAS, a graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University, S enator Brush built a6
respected career as a real estate broker and home builder, cont ributing to the growth and7
development of communities throughout Georgia; and8
WHEREAS, Senator Brush devoted over a decade to serving the peo ple of Georgia in the9
General Assembly, first as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives from 1992 to10
1993 and from 1995 to 1996, and then as a member of the Georgia State Senate representing11
District 24 from 1997 to 2004; and 12
WHEREAS, during his tenure in the Senate, he was appointed chai rperson of the Senate13
Education Committee, where he worked to promote excellence in education across the state14
and championed policies to strengthen opportunities for Georgia's students; and 15

WHEREAS, he served on numerous legislative committees and was an advocate for public16
safety, education, and the interests of his constituents in Columbia County and beyond; and 17
WHEREAS, he was known for his principled leadership, collaborat ive spirit, and18
commitment to public service, earning respect from colleagues and citizens alike; and19
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished20
Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating an intersection in his memory.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL22
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 232/Co lumbia Road and23
Louisville Road in Columbia County is dedicated as the Senator Joey Brush Memorial24
Intersection.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and26
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Senator Joey Brush Memorial27
Intersection.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the 30
family of Senator Ben Joseph "Joey" Brush, Jr., and to the Department of Transportation.31
