Senate Resolution 943

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Georgia HBCU and Divine Nine Day; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have played a vital role2
in expanding educational opportunities, leadership development, and community3
advancement for generations of students; and4
WHEREAS, the nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations known as the Divine Nine5
have contributed significantly to scholarship, public service, civic engagement, and6
leadership throughout Georgia and the nation; and7
WHEREAS, graduates and members of these institutions and organi zations continue to8
strengthen communities through education, mentorship, professional excellence, and service;9
and10
WHEREAS, Georgia is proud to be home to several distinguished H BCUs whose impact11
reaches far beyond their campuses.12

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body13
recognize Georgia HBCU and Divine Nine Day in honor of the legacy, achievements, and14
continued contributions of these institutions and organizations.15
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body extend their appreciation to16
all students, alumni, faculty, and members who continue to upli ft communities across the17
State of Georgia.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed19
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the20
press.21
