26 LC 39 5047 House Resolution 1658 By: Representatives Barnes of the 86th, Drenner of the 85th, Holcomb of the 101st, Mitchell of the 88th, and McClain of the 109th A RESOLUTION Recognizing Representative Michele Henson and dedicating an interchange in her honor; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Representative Michele Henson has long been recognized by the citizens of this3 state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment4 to the welfare of the residents of DeKalb County and the citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, Representative Henson earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami6 and was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1990; and7 WHEREAS, during her tenure with the Georgia House of Representatives, Representative8 Henson served as vice chairperson of the DeKalb delegation and was a member of the House9 Appropriations, Health and Human Services, Economic Development and Tourism, and10 Small Business Development committees; and11 WHEREAS, Representative Henson was a staunch advocate for affordable and accessible12 healthcare for all Georgians and was instrumental in amending t he law to add dental13 coverage for children through Georgia's PeachCare program; and14 H. R. 1658 - 1 - 26 LC 39 5047 WHEREAS, her service to the community and public extends beyond her work with the15 General Assembly with organizations such as Art Station, PRISM (Pride Rings in Stone16 Mountain), the Anti-Defamation League, the Stone Mountain Women's Club, the League of17 Women Voters, and the Memorial Drive Business Association; and18 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished19 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an interchange in her honor.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL21 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that interchange of State Route 407 (I-285) and State Route 822 (US-29) in DeKalb County is dedicated as the Representative Michele Henson Interchange.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and24 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Representative Michele25 Henson Interchange.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to28 Representative Michele Henson and the Department of Transportation.29 H.
