26 LC 129 1027 House Resolution 1680 By: Representatives Cannon of the 58 th, Adeyina of the 110 th, Jackson of the 68 th, and Bazemore of the 69th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Paula Whittle; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Paula Whittle, known as "the Mogul," is a serial entrepreneur, philanthropist,2 mentor, developer, and the founder and director of Atlanta International Fashion Week; and3 WHEREAS, 18 years ago, Paula made history as the first Black person and first woman to4 direct a global fashion week; and5 WHEREAS, since then, she has produced and directed over 300 shows, worked with over6 500 designers from around the globe, and produced 150 celebrity events; and7 WHEREAS, Atlanta International Fashion Week has several communi ty development8 initiatives and various programs that improve citizen lives, such as Beauty & A Makeover;9 and 10 WHEREAS, Atlanta International Fashion Week paves the way for the fashion industry in11 Atlanta by providing opportunities and propelling the careers of talented individuals, placing12 Atlanta on a global scale for fashion, highlighting Atlanta's r ich heritage and historic13 H. R. 1680 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1027 buildings, as well as offering youth development and mentorship through the nonprofit,14 Fashion Apprentice; and15 WHEREAS, under the guiding hand of Paula Whittle, the Atlanta I nternational Fashion16 Week has become one of the largest fashion and entertainment events of the year; and17 WHEREAS, Paula's significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience18 and diplomacy, and keen sense of vision have earned her the respect and admiration of all19 those who know her; and20 WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for21 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body recognize and commend Paula Whittle and extend the most sincere26 best wishes for continued health and happiness.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Paula29 Whittle.30 H.
