26 LC 39 5046 House Resolution 1667 By: Representatives Yearta of the 152nd, O’Steen of the 169th, Ford of the 170th, Gambill of the 15th, and Gunter of the 8th A RESOLUTION Recognizing the life of Mr. Bryce Alan Johnson and dedicating a bridge in his memory; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Bryce Alan Johnson graduated as valedictorian and STAR student of 19903 from Tiftarea Academy; and 4 WHEREAS, he graduated magna cum laude from Brewton-Parker College with a bachelor's5 degree, earned a master's degree from Valdosta State University, and obtained a law degree6 from Mercer University; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson began his legal career as an assistant dis trict attorney in the8 Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office and later se rved as an associate at the9 Carter and Richbourg law firm and as assistant solicitor-general of Tift County; and10 WHEREAS, he was elected as solicitor-general of Worth County in 2008 and was elected11 district attorney of the Tifton Judicial Circuit in 2020; and12 H. R. 1667 - 1 - 26 LC 39 5046 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson's leadership and vision were instrumental to numerous district and13 state Republican organizations, including through multiple coun ty chairmanships, two14 district chairmanships, and participation with the Republican State Committee; and 15 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished16 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a bridge in his memory.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL18 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the bridge on State Route 20 over Ty T y Creek at the19 Worth-Tift county line is dedicated as the Bryce Johnson Memorial Bridge.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and21 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Bryce Johnson Memorial22 Bridge.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the25 family of Mr. Bryce Alan Johnson and to the Department of Transportation.26 H.
