26 LC 129 1377 House Resolution 1698 By: Representatives Okoye of the 102nd, Berry of the 56th, Carter of the 93rd, Olaleye of the 59th, Romman of the 97th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Honorable Dewey McClain; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Honorable Dewey McClain has long been recognized by the citizens of this2 state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to3 the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, State Representative Dewey McClain was first elected and began serving the5 citizens of Gwinnett County in 2014, and he currently serves on the Game, Fish and Parks,6 Industry & Labor, Motor Vehicles, State Planning, and Community Affairs committees; and7 WHEREAS, prior to being elected to represent the great citizens of Georgia's District 109,8 Representative McClain was a professional football player; spen t 18 years with the9 Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs; worked four years with the Atlanta10 Workforce Development Agency; as well as served as the Presiden t of the Atlanta North11 Georgia Labor Council AFL-CIO; and12 WHEREAS, he has selflessly volunteered with numerous organizations such as the Special13 Olympics, Boys and Girls Club, the Sickle Cell Foundation, and the Martin Luther King, Jr.,14 Center for Non-Violent Social Change; and15 H. R. 1698 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1377 WHEREAS, Representative McClain also serves on the Board of the NFLPA Gene Upshaw16 Players Assistance Trust Fund, NFLPA National Former Players, Metro Atlanta United Way,17 and Gwinnett County Parks Foundation; and18 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high19 ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom20 which only comes through experience and the strength of charact er which is achieved21 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body recognize and commend The Honorable Dewey McClain for his26 efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend27 the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to The30 Honorable Dewey McClain.31 H.
