26 LC 47 9013/AP House Bill 1547 (AS PASSED HOUSE AND SENATE) By: Representatives Williams of the 168th and DeLoach of the 167th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend an Act to create the board of elections and registrati on for Liberty County,1 approved June 3, 2003 (Ga. L. 2003, p. 4437), so as to provide for staggered terms of office2 for certain future appointees to the board; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:4 SECTION 1.5 An Act to create the board of elections and registration for Liberty County, approved June 3,6 2003 (Ga. L. 2003, p. 4437), is amended in Section 2 by revising subsection (c) as follows:7 "(c)(1) Except as provided for in paragraph (2) of this subsect ion, members serve for8 terms of four years each and until their successors are duly ap pointed and qualified. 9 Successors to members whose terms are to expire shall be appointed to take office on the10 first day of January immediately following the expiration of such initial terms of office.11 (2) Upon the expiration of the terms of the members appointed by the governing12 authority of Liberty County pursu ant to paragraph (4) of subsec tion (b) of this section13 ending on December 31, 2026, said governing authority shall appoint three successors to14 such members to serve initial terms of office of two years, exp iring on December 31,15 2028, and until their successors are duly appointed and qualifi ed. Successors to such16 H.
