L. 1993, p. 4524), as amended, particularly by an Act approved May 6,2 2013 (Ga. L. 2013, p. 4322), so as to change the description of the education districts; to3 provide for definitions and inclusions; to provide for the cont inuation in office of current4 members; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6 SECTION 1.7 An Act to reconstitute the Board of Education of Hancock County, approved April 5, 19938 (Ga. L. 1993, p. 4524), as amended, particularly by an Act appr oved May 6, 2013 (Ga. L.9 2013, p. 4322), is amended by revising Section 2 as follows:10 "SECTION 2.11 (a) For the purpose of electing members of the board of educat ion other than the12 chairperson, the Hancock County School District shall be divide d into four education13 districts. Education Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 shall be and correspond to those four numbered14 districts described in Appendix A attached to and made part of this Act and further15 S. B. 619 - 1 - 26 LC 62 0364 identified as 'User: SD26 Plan Name: HancockCCSB-2025 Plan Type : Local'. The16 chairperson shall be elected by the electors of the entire school district.17 (b)(1) For the purposes of such plan:18 (A) The term 'VTD' shall mean and describe the same geographic al boundaries as19 provided in the report of the Bureau of the Census for the Unit ed States decennial20 census of 2020 for the State of Georgia. The separate numeric designations in district21 description which are underneath a VTD heading shall mean and d escribe individual22 Blocks within a VTD as provided in the report of the Bureau of the Census for the23 United States decennial census of 2020 for the State of Georgia; and24 (B) Except as otherwise provided in the description of any dis trict, whenever the25 description of any district refers to a named city, it shall me an the geographical26 boundaries of that city as shown on the census maps for the Uni ted States decennial27 census of 2020 for the State of Georgia.28 (2) Any part of the Hancock County School District which is not included in any district29 described in subsection (a) of this section shall be included within that district contiguous30 to such part which contains the least population according to the United States decennial31 census of 2020 for the State of Georgia.32 (3) Any part of the Hancock County School District which is described in subsection (a)33 of this section as being included in a particular district shall nevertheless not be included34 within such district if such part is not contiguous to such dis trict. Such noncontiguous35 part shall instead be included within that district contiguous to such part which contains36 the least population according to the United States decennial census of 2020 for the State37 of Georgia."38 SECTION 2.39 (a) Those members of the Board of Education of Hancock County who are serving as such40 on the effective date of this Act and any person selected to fill a vacancy in any such office41 S. B. 619 - 2 - 26 LC 62 0364 shall continue to serve as such members until the regular expir ation of their respective42 terms of office and upon the election and qualification of their respective successors.43 (b) Education Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4, as they existed immedi ately prior to the effective44 date of this Act, shall continue to be designated as Education Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4,45 respectively, but as newly described under this Act, and on and after the effective date of46 this Act, such members of the board serving from those former education districts shall be47 deemed to be serving from and representing their respective districts as newly described48 under this Act.49 SECTION 3.50 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.51 S.
