A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Jason Hughes; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Jason Hughes on March 7, 2026; and3
WHEREAS, Jason was a loyal husband, nurturing father, and devot ed math teacher and4
coach at North Hall High School; and5
WHEREAS, known to be a mentor for many, he is remembered as always having a listening6
ear, being a shoulder to cry on, and creating a safe and accept ing environment for his7
students and anyone who had the privilege of having a conversation with him; and8
WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Laura, and was blessed with two9
remarkable children, Owen and Luke; and10
WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern11
for his students, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family12
and friends were admired by others; and13

WHEREAS, his steadfast position as a role model for his students introduced a gracious and14
inspiring atmosphere, and his consistent positive influence had a ripple effect that had no15
boundaries; and 16
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation17
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he18
made this world a better place in which to live; and19
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Jason Hughes will long be remembered for20
his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great21
fortune of knowing him.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23
the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Jason Hughes and express24
their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the27
family of Jason Hughes.28
