A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Mr. Jimmy "Lord" Brown and dedicating an intersection in his honor; and for1
other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Mr. Jimmy "Lord" Brown has long been recognized for his musical talents and3
unique sound; and4
WHEREAS, he is the founding member and master horn player for Brick, a legendary funk5
and rhythm and blues band whose innovative blend of jazz, funk, and dance has left a lasting6
impact on American music; and7
WHEREAS, Mr. Brown's energy on the saxophone, flute, trumpet, and trombone created the8
unmistakable brass-driven energy behind the band's hits, Dusic, Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody,9
and Happy; and10
WHEREAS, his music stands as a symbol of funk excellence, cultu ral pride, and musical11
innovation; and 12
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished13
Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an intersection in his honor.14

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL15
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 204 and Middleground Road16
in Chatham County is dedicated as the Jimmy "Lord" Brown Intersection.17
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and18
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the J i m m y " L o r d " B r o w n19
Intersection.20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to Mr.22
Jimmy "Lord" Brown and to the Department of Transportation.23
