A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Morningside Presbyterian Church on the occasion of its 100th1
anniversary; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the seeds which were sown by the loving and humble eff orts of the devoted3
original worshipers of Morningside Presbyterian Church have blossomed, establishing a rich4
tradition and history; and 5
WHEREAS, Morningside Presbyterian Church has been integral to making disciples of Jesus6
Christ in the Morningside neighborhood in Atlanta since the 1920s, when the road into this7
new community was paved and farmland gave way to development; and8
WHEREAS, Morningside Presbyterian Church was established as a mission of the Atlanta9
Presbytery Home Mission Committee and First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta in November10
1925; and 11
WHEREAS, the congregation of this church has compiled an unparalleled record of passion,12
action and inclusivity, which it demonstrates daily through a wide embrace for all of God's13
children, inviting all to journey together in worship, service, growth and community; and 14

WHEREAS, the members of Morningside Presbyterian Church have a sincere desire to serve15
the Lord and are wholeheartedly committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ; and 16
WHEREAS, Morningside Presbyterian Church has a long-standing reputation of service to17
others, currently supporting Clifton Sanctuary Ministries, Into wn Cares, J. W. Dobbs18
Elementary School, Memorial Drive Ministries, MPC C.A.R.E., and Nicholas House; and19
WHEREAS, the church's Weekday Children's Ministries, Morningsid e Presbyterian20
Preschool (MPP), operates a half-day preschool serving children ages 15-months to Pre-K;21
and 22
WHEREAS MPP believes in inclusivity, welcoming students, families, and teachers of all23
faiths, ethnicities, and backgrounds to its diverse community t hrough a developmental24
philosophy of learning-through-play to create a solid foundatio n for a lifelong love of25
learning; and26
WHEREAS, on November 16, 2025, Morningside Presbyterian Church celebrated its 100th27
anniversary with a special Centennial Worship Service followed by a fellowship reception;28
and 29
WHEREAS the church continued to celebrate with additional events throughout the season,30
including special music events, a tree planting with Trees Atlanta, "This I Believe" Sunday31
with church archives, and fellowship and storytelling.32
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that33
the members of this body recognize the rich history of Mornings ide Presbyterian Church,34
commend its 100 years of dedicated service to the Lord and comm unity, and extend their35

warmest best wishes for its continued growth and success as they look forward to the future36
and reflect on where God has led them and where God is guiding them next.37
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized38
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to39
Morningside Presbyterian Church.40
