26 LC 64 0099 House Resolution 1707 By: Representatives Gunter of the 8 th, Powell of the 33rd, Erwin of the 32nd, Dubnik of the 29th, Williams of the 148th, and others A RESOLUTION Encouraging the creation of the Georgia Legislative Golf Caucus; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the game of golf plays a significant role in the economy, tourism industry, and2 cultural identity of the State of Georgia; and3 WHEREAS, Georgia is home to some of the most recognized golf destinations in the world4 and hosts globally recognized tournaments, such as the Masters Tournament, Tour5 Championship, and numerous PGA and USGA Championships; and6 WHEREAS, the golf industry in Georgia supports thousands of job s across course7 operations, hospitality, tourism, manufacturing, turf management, and youth development8 programs; and9 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has invested in the future of golf across the state through 10 state parks and public golf courses, which serve as an instrumental tool in communities and11 for visitors to our state parks; and12 WHEREAS, golf serves as an important platform for youth engagem ent, workforce13 development, and outdoor recreation across communities throughout this state; and14 H. R. 1707 - 1 - 26 LC 64 0099 WHEREAS, many organizations across Georgia promote youth golf participation, including15 programs such as First Tee, US Kids Golf, PGA Jr. League, and initiatives supported by the16 Georgia State Golf Association; and17 WHEREAS, the members of the General Assembly recognize the valu e of promoting18 policies that support outdoor recreation, youth development, tourism, and economic growth19 associated with the golf industry.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 members of this body encourage the creation of the Georgia Legislative Golf Caucus.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:23 (1) Membership in the Georgia Legislative Golf Caucus shall be voluntary and open to all24 members of the General Assembly;25 (2) The caucus shall elect a chairperson and vice chairperson from among its members and26 may adopt additional procedures as necessary for the conduct of its activities; and27 (3) The caucus may collaborate with organizations, courses, to urism entities, and youth28 programs across Georgia to advance the mission of the caucus.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to31 appropriate stakeholders within the Georgia golf community.32 H.
