26 LC 112 3756 House Resolution 1719 By: Representatives Bazemore of the 69th, Buckner of the 137th, and Burnough of the 77th A RESOLUTION Commending Monique Wilson; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Monique Wilson is a breast cancer survivor, cancer car e coordinator,2 board-certified mastectomy fitter, wellness coach, national advocate, and ordained minister3 whose life and work exemplify resilience, service, and purpose; and4 WHEREAS, in 2016, after being diagnosed with Stage I breast can cer, Monique Wilson5 chose resilience over fear, transforming her personal experience into a source of strength not6 only for herself but for countless others navigating cancer survivorship; and7 WHEREAS, alongside her husband of 26 years, she has participated in the annual Tour de8 Pink charity bike ride for eight consecutive years, reinforcing her belief that healing,9 strength, and restoration are built through shared community and collective support; and10 WHEREAS, in 2023, Monique Wilson expanded her national advocacy efforts through the11 National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship by becoming an NCCS Elevate Ambassador; and12 WHEREAS, through the Elevating Survivorship Program and the Can cer Policy and13 Advocacy Team, she received advanced advocacy training and trav eled to Capitol Hill to14 H. R. 1719 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3756 advocate for federal survivorship legislation on behalf of patients and survivors nationwide;15 and16 WHEREAS, she serves as chapter president of the Sisters Network, Southwest Georgia, and17 as a Face2Face coordinator with the Young Survival Coalition, o ffering mentorship,18 connection, and hope to fellow survivors; and19 WHEREAS, Monique Wilson envisions a future in which every survi vor has access to20 equitable care, comprehensive resources, and supportive communi ties, regardless of21 background or circumstance; and22 WHEREAS, her message is rooted in authenticity and hope: "Life is tough, but so are you.23 Take it one day at a time and remember—I WILL SURVIVE”; and24 WHEREAS, Monique Wilson continues to make a lasting difference by demonstrating that25 survivorship is not only about living, but about leading with p urpose, service, and26 compassion.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body commend Monique Wilson for her extraor dinary resilience,29 advocacy, and service to cancer survivors as well as extend bes t wishes for future health,30 happiness, and success.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to33 Monique Wilson.34 H.
