26 LC 129 1396 House Resolution 1746 By: Representatives Fleming of the 114th, Martinez of the 111th, and Williamson of the 112th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Bethany Shirley; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Bethany Shirley is a nationally recognized sporter air rifle athlete whose2 dedication, consistency, and championship-level focus have made her one of the top junior3 shooters in the country; and 4 WHEREAS, a homeschooled senior from the Class of 2026, Bethany has competed, and5 excelled, on every major stage in junior marksmanship; and6 WHEREAS, in 2025 alone, she achieved a rare sweep of the CMP, 4 -H, and American7 Legion National Championships, demonstrating her dominance across all major governing8 bodies; and9 WHEREAS, among her many accolades, she is also a two-time gold medalist at both the10 Gary Anderson Invitational and the Camp Perry Open, a Daisy Nationals gold medalist, and11 has earned back-to-back silver medals at the Junior Air Rifle Nationals; and12 H. R. 1746 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1396 WHEREAS, Bethany embodies the 4-H values of head, heart, hands, and health, and her13 journey reflects the true spirit of 4-H – preparing young people to lead and succeed, one goal14 at a time; and15 WHEREAS, this stellar young woman epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and16 character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and17 WHEREAS, Bethany Shirley's victories are the culmination of a l ifetime of hard work,18 dedication, and excellent sportsmanship; and19 WHEREAS, her superior skill, strategy, stamina, and control have earned her the respect and20 admiration of her teammates and challengers; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the superlati ve abilities of this22 accomplished and gifted student-athlete, as well as the pride, honor, and respect she has23 brought to herself and her community, be appropriately recognized.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body recognize and commend Bethany Shirley and extend best wishes26 for success in the future.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to29 Bethany Shirley.30 H.
