26 LC 39 5078 Senate Resolution 955 By: Senators Davenport of the 17th, Wicks of the 34th, Jones of the 10th, James of the 28th, Mangham of the 55th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Mr. Robert Daniel Lockhart and dedicating an intersection in his1 memory; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Robert Daniel Lockhart was born in Junction City, Georgia, and received3 his early education at the County Line School of Taylor County, Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, Mr. Lockhart dedicated 24 years to Central of Georgia Railroad and worked for5 26 years with Murphy and Orr, Inc., of Forest Park, Georgia; and6 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Lockhart was an active member of Forest7 Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for more than 50 years, served as assistant8 chairperson on the board of deacons, sang in the chorus, and served on the trustee board; and9 WHEREAS, Mr. Lockhart was a great supporter of athletics, founding the Atlanta Spartans10 Athletic Club and helping to lead the Forest Park Braves and Decatur Spartans to years of11 success; and12 S. R. 955 - 1 - 26 LC 39 5078 WHEREAS, the community of Forest Park was blessed to have Mr. Lockhart's vision and13 engagement and he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Forest Park's youth through fund14 raisers for their extra curricular activities; and15 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished16 Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating an intersection in his memory.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL18 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 138 Spur and State Route19 3 in Clayton County is dedicated as the Robert Daniel Lockhart Memorial Intersection.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and21 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Robert Daniel Lockhart22 Memorial Intersection.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for dis tribution to the family of25 Mr. Robert Daniel Lockhart and to the Department of Transportation.26 S.
