A RESOLUTION
Recognizing March 19, 2026, as Golf Day; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, golf is an extremely popular sport in the State of Georgia, and each year both2
national and international media turn to the Peach State for two of the most iconic golf events3
in the world: the Masters Tournament and the TOUR Championship; and4
WHEREAS, as an industry, golf annually provides a major economic impact on this state,5
including $5.3 billion in direct, indirect, and induced economic output; $2.7 billion in labor6
income; $259 million in state and local taxes; and a combined $273 million in proceeds from7
professional and charitable events; and8
WHEREAS, in 2022, Georgia's golf wholesale and retail businesses added $1.1 billion and9
$176 million respectively, highlighted by contributions from Br idgestone, PGA TOUR10
Superstores, and golf cart manufacturers; and11
WHEREAS, our state's golf courses and entertainment venues empl oy thousands of12
individuals and serve as local economic drivers, supporting mor e than 24,000 jobs and13
providing $1.8 billion to the economy; and14

WHEREAS, as the game of golf drives significant economic activi ty in this state and is15
enjoyed by many, it is abundantly fitting and proper that it be appropriately honored.16
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that17
the members of this body recognize March 19, 2026, as Golf Day in honor of the sport's18
immensely positive economic impact on this state and encourage all citizens to enjoy it for19
themselves as a player, spectator, or both.20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the22
public and the press.23
