26 LC 112 3944 Senate Resolution 959 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Davenport of the 17th and Anderson of the 43rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending The Flourish Society Inc.; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, The Flourish Society Inc. is an intentional sisterhood and advocacy organization2 committed to addressing the unique personal, cultural, and comm unal needs of African3 American women through the creation of intentional spaces that nurture leadership,4 empowerment, and community transformation; and5 WHEREAS, the organization is guided by the philosophy of Holist ic Flourishing,6 emphasizing authentic connection; holistic growth of the mind, body, and spirit; and the7 power of collective impact to uplift families and strengthen communities; and8 WHEREAS, through its Legacy Build ers Program, the organization invests in youth9 development by connecting young people with mentors, fostering leadership skills, and10 encouraging cultural pride and identity among the next generation; and11 WHEREAS, the organization promotes cultural preservation and em powerment through12 initiatives such as Flourishing in the Arts, celebrating the ri ch contributions of African13 Americans and providing creative platforms that amplify artisti c expression and cultural14 heritage; and15 S. R. 959 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3944 WHEREAS, recognizing health disparities affecting Black women, The Flourish Society Inc.16 prioritizes Black health and wellness by promoting emotional an d mental well-being,17 encouraging physical wellness, and advocating for preventative health education that18 supports longevity and vitality; and19 WHEREAS, through its commitment to advocacy and civic engagemen t, The Flourish20 Society Inc. works to bridge communities with the legislative process by identifying barriers21 to equitable opportunity and encouraging collective action that advances policies benefiting22 families and communities; and23 WHEREAS, through Global Connect, the organization fosters cultural exchange and global24 awareness, strengthening connections across the African diaspora and promoting a broader25 understanding of shared heritage and global community; and26 WHEREAS, The Flourish Society Inc. continues to strengthen communities through event27 programming, philanthropy, and civic engagement that promote mu lti-generational28 leadership, empowerment, and sustainable community impact.29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body30 recognize and commend The Flourish Society Inc. for its many outstanding contributions on31 behalf of the citizens of this state as well as extend best wishes for continued success.32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed33 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to The Flourish34 Society Inc.35 S.
