26 LC 129 1383 House Resolution 1733 By: Representatives Greene of the 154th, Cheokas of the 151st, Yearta of the 152nd, Clark of the 100th, and Mathiak of the 82nd A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team for winning the 20261 GIAA AAA Basketball State Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team has es tablished and3 maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics;4 and5 WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball6 competition by posting an outstanding record of 23 wins and only five losses; and7 WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school and to Terrell County by8 winning the 2026 GIAA AAA Basketball State Championship against Lakeview Academy9 with a final score of 51 to 48; and10 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding11 athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the12 team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Eric13 Israel who was named District 3 AAA Coach of the Year and GIAA AAA Coach of the14 Year; and15 H. R. 1733 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1383 WHEREAS, this all-star team included Annalea Massey, Sally Mast ers, Hadley Webb,16 Caroline Joiner, Piper Graham, Harlee Torbert, Lyla Griffin, Natalie Oliver, Lily Addison,17 Peyton Thaggard, Mackenzie Guined, and Rachel Barfield; and18 WHEREAS, senior Sally Masters was named as the District 3 AAA Player of the Year and19 was named the GIAA AAA Player of the Year; and20 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by21 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is22 abundantly proper to call them champions.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body congratulate the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team for25 winning the 2026 GIAA AAA Basketball State Championship and ext end best wishes for26 their continued success.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team.30 H.
