26 LC 129 1028 House Resolution 1741 By: Representatives Cannon of the 58th, Adeyina of the 110th, Mitchell of the 88th, Bazemore of the 69th, Miller of the 62nd, and others A RESOLUTION Commending Atlanta International Fashion Week on its 19th year; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Atlanta International Fashion Week is a revolutionary event that is engineering2 the global fashion experience and attracting industry influencers to arts, culture, fashion, and3 entertainment; and4 WHEREAS, under the guiding hand of Founder and Director Paula W hittle, Atlanta5 International Fashion Week has become one of the largest fashion and entertainment events6 of the year; and7 WHEREAS, the event offers 50 designers, 12 runway shows, six ce lebrity events, four8 fashion workshops, and two trunk shows in one week; and 9 WHEREAS, Atlanta International Fashion Week paves the way for the fashion industry in10 Atlanta by providing opportunities and propelling the careers of talented individuals, placing11 Atlanta on a global scale for fashion, highlighting Atlanta's r ich heritage and historic12 buildings, as well as offering youth development and mentorship through the nonprofit,13 Fashion Apprentice; and14 H. R. 1741 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1028 WHEREAS, Atlanta International Fashion Week also has several community development15 initiatives and various programs that improve citizen lives, such as Beauty & A Makeover;16 and 17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding event be recognized for18 its contributions to arts, fashion, community development, and culture in the City of Atlanta,19 the State of Georgia, and globally.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body commend Atlanta International Fashion Week on its 19th year and22 extend the most sincere best wishes for continued growth and success.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Paula25 Whittle, the public, and the press.26 H.
