A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and congratulating Elana Meyers Taylor; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Elana Meyers Taylor, who grew up in Douglasville, Geor gia, is a six time2
Olympic medalist in bobsled and one of the most accomplished athletes in the sport's history;3
and4
WHEREAS, following her successful career as a softball player a t George Washington5
University, Elana began competing in the two-woman bobsled even t in 2007, before6
expanding into the monobob event during the 2020-2021 World Cup season; and7
WHEREAS, upon her bobsled debut, she immediately made the Unite d States National8
Team, quickly putting her on the path to becoming one of the mo st decorated women in9
bobsled history; and10
WHEREAS, currently, she competes at the highest level in both disciplines, demonstrating11
her remarkable versatility and unwavering commitment to excellence; and12
WHEREAS, she made her Olympic debut at the 2010 Vancouver Olymp ics and has13
competed in every Games since then, consistently finishing on the podium each time; and14

WHEREAS, over the course of her career, she has captured six Ol ympic, 12 World15
Championship, and 14 international medals, cementing her reputa tion as an undisputed16
legend in the bobsledding community; and17
WHEREAS, at the 2026 Winter Olympics, in Milan-Cortina, Italy, she took home her first18
gold medal at the age of 41; and19
WHEREAS, her outstanding achievements continue to shine a spotl ight on the State of20
Georgia in the international sports community and serve as an i nspiration to the next21
generation of winter sports athletes from the state.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23
the members of this body recognize Elana Meyers Taylor for her many contributions to the24
sport of bobsled, congratulate her upon winning her first Olymp ic gold medal, and extend25
their sincere best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success. 26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Elana28
Meyers Taylor. 29
