26 LC 112 3913 Senate Resolution 956 By: Senators Walker III of the 20th, Anavitarte of the 31st, Jones II of the 22nd and Echols of the 49th A RESOLUTION Celebrating the arrival of the Upper Austrian Parliamentary Del egation in the State of1 Georgia; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has maintained a longstanding, mu tually beneficial3 relationship with the Republic of Austria, which established a consular presence in Georgia4 in 1949 and is represented by Ambassador Petra Schneebauer at the Embassy of Austria in5 Washington, D.C.; and6 WHEREAS, Georgia is home to the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Austria, where7 Mr. Paul Seefried has served as honorary consul since 2020; and8 WHEREAS, the Georgia Department of Economic Development has maintained continuous9 representation in Europe since 1973, strengthening economic tie s and assisting European10 firms locating in Georgia and Georgia companies exporting to Europe; and11 WHEREAS, Georgia and the Province of Upper Austria are members of the Regional12 Leaders Summit, fostering cooperation among leading international regions; and13 S. R. 956 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3913 WHEREAS, academic, legal, and cultural partnerships continue through University System14 of Georgia study abroad programs in Austria, collaboration between the Atlanta Center for15 International Arbitration and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre, and artistic exchanges16 and museum exhibitions; and17 WHEREAS, in 2023, Austrian visitors contributed $7.9 million to Georgia's economy, and18 trade between Georgia and Austria remains strong, with $34 million in Georgia exports and19 $1.3 billion in imports.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body21 celebrate the arrival of the Upper Austrian Parliamentary Delegation in the State of Georgia 22 and extend warm best wishes for a productive and meaningful visit.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Upper Austrian25 Parliamentary Delegation.26 S.
