26 LC 129 1361 Senate Resolution 964 By: Senators Merritt of the 9th, Dixon of the 45th, Anderson of the 43rd, Sims of the 12th and Rahman of the 5th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Reverend Avery Headd on the occasion of his 31st pastoral1 anniversary; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Reverend Avery Headd has demonstrated his commitment t o teaching the3 Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,4 psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and5 WHEREAS, Reverend Headd was called by the Lord 31 years ago to lead the congregation6 of Poplar Hill Baptist Church; and 7 WHEREAS, his vision and direction have helped Poplar Hill Bapti st Church grow in size8 and influence, uplifting the community like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual9 leader and place for fellowship; and10 WHEREAS, over the past three decades leading Poplar Hill Baptist Church, Reverend Headd11 has established numerous programs and workshops which have improved the spiritual and12 educational growth of the church and the surrounding community; and13 S. R. 964 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1361 WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the s ick, counseling the14 troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or15 humanitarian, Reverend Headd serves as a shining example of God's righteous path; and16 WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Headd is a source of17 strength and direction for persons in all walks of life; and18 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments19 of the dynamic Christian ministry of this devout and pious man.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body21 recognize and commend Reverend Avery Headd on the wonderful occ asion of his 31st22 pastoral anniversary and extend best wishes for many more years of successful fellowship23 and leadership.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Reverend Avery26 Headd.27 S.
