26 LC 129 1298 Senate Resolution 969 By: Senators Halpern of the 39th, Hufstetler of the 52nd, Orrock of the 36th, McLaurin of the 14th, Howard of the 35th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring Karon Mauney for her outstanding leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedicated1 service to the Cartersville and Bartow County community; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Karon Mauney has devoted nearly two decades to strengthening the economic3 vitality, civic engagement, and cultural life of Northwest Georgia through a combination of4 public service, nonprofit leadership, and entrepreneurial initiative; and5 WHEREAS, she currently serves as Executive Assistant for Parks Sales at the6 Cartersville-Bartow County Convention and Visitors Bureau, a role she has held since May7 2018, where she plays an integral part in promoting tourism, su pporting economic8 development, and advancing Cartersville and Bartow County as pr emier destinations for9 visitors, businesses, and community events; and10 WHEREAS, since June 2013, she has also served as Administrative Assistant for the Bartow11 County Fire Department, providing vital administrative leadership and support to one of the12 county's most essential public safety agencies; and13 S. R. 969 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1298 WHEREAS, her service to Bartow County Government includes her p rior role as14 Administrative Assistant in Human Resources from 2010 to 2013, reflecting her longstanding15 commitment to effective public administration and workforce support; and16 WHEREAS, Karon Mauney previously served as Financial Developmen t Director for the17 American Red Cross from 2005 to 2009, leading fundraising and community outreach efforts18 that supported humanitarian and disaster relief initiatives; and19 WHEREAS, in addition to her public service career, she has demo nstrated exceptional20 entrepreneurial leadership as the Founder and Owner of the Nort hwest Georgia Women's21 Expo since 2010, an annual event that highlights women-owned bu sinesses, artisans, and22 entrepreneurs while fostering networking, empowerment, and econ omic opportunity23 throughout the region; and24 WHEREAS, she is also the Founder and Event Coordinator of Chris tmas Village,25 Cartersville, established in 2017, a widely attended holiday sh opping event that supports26 local vendors and small businesses while promoting seasonal tou rism and community27 engagement; and28 WHEREAS, through her leadership of large-scale community events , her dedication to29 public service, and her steadfast support of small businesses and local organizations, Karon30 Mauney has become a driving force in promoting tourism, economic growth, and civic pride31 in Bartow County; and32 WHEREAS, her professionalism, creativity, and commitment to excellence have positively33 impacted countless residents, businesses, nonprofit organizatio ns, and visitors across34 Northwest Georgia.35 S. R. 969 - 2 - 26 LC 129 1298 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body36 honnor and commend Karon Mauney for her exceptional leadership, entrepreneurial37 achievements, and dedicated service to the citizens of Cartersville and Bartow County.38 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed39 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Karon Mauney.40 S.
