26 LC 129 1291 Senate Resolution 967 By: Senators Halpern of the 39th, Orrock of the 36th, Kemp of t he 38th, McLaurin of the 14th and Howard of the 35th A RESOLUTION Honoring Claire Lewis "Yum" Arnold for her visionary leadership , entrepreneurial1 excellence, and distinguished contributions to business, philanthropy, and civic life; and for2 other purposes.3 WHEREAS, Claire Lewis "Yum" Arnold is the co-founder and CEO of Leapfrog,4 established in 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, Yum Arnold brings extensive experience in high-growth business development6 and long-range strategic planning, and demonstrates a deep comm itment to enabling7 organizations to securely and effectively fulfill their mission s through highly serviced8 technology; and9 WHEREAS, prior to founding Leapfrog, Yum Arnold acquired a loca l consumer goods10 distributor through a leveraged buyout and, over the course of 15 years, built the company11 into one of Georgia's five largest privately held companies, ex panding it from a12 single-warehouse distributor into a diversified corporation with nine operating divisions; and13 S. R. 967 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1291 WHEREAS, as CEO, Yum Arnold provided industry leadership by serving on the board of14 her trade association and as its President and Chair, advancing innovation, professionalism,15 and growth within the sector; and16 WHEREAS, Yum Arnold has demonstrated exceptional civic and philanthropic leadership17 through extensive board service, including as Chair of Achieve Atlanta, Trustee of Spelman18 College and the EARTH University Foundation, member of the Gove rning Board of The19 Woodruff Arts Center, member of the Emory Brain Health Center Advisory Council, and the20 Atlanta Committee for Progress; and21 WHEREAS, Yum Arnold served for two years as Chair of the Federa l Reserve Bank of22 Atlanta, following six years of board service, reflecting the high level of trust placed in her23 judgment, expertise, and leadership; and24 WHEREAS, her board leadership further includes service as Chair of the Board of The25 Georgia Conservancy, Chair of The Carter Center Board of Councilors, past President and26 past Chair of the Rotary Club of Atlanta, and Trustee and forme r Chair of Mary Baldwin27 College; and28 WHEREAS, Yum Arnold has served on the boards of numerous organi zations and29 institutions, including NYSE-listed companies, Venture Atlanta, Leadership Atlanta, The30 Tull Foundation, The Westminster Schools, The Shepherd Center, Children's Healthcare of31 Atlanta Foundation, and the Board of Visitors of Duke Universit y's Fuqua School of32 Business; and33 WHEREAS, earlier in her career, Yum Arnold spent nearly a decade with Coca-Cola USA,34 holding leadership roles in marketing, sales, sales management, and long-range planning,35 S. R. 967 - 2 - 26 LC 129 1291 including serving as marketing manager for the company's first plastic beverage containers;36 and37 WHEREAS, Yum Arnold earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics an d a Doctor of38 Humane Letters from Mary Baldwin College and has continued her executive education39 through advanced studies at Harvard Business School programs fo r CEOs and YPO40 members.41 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body42 honor and commend Claire Lewis "Yum" Arnold for her visionary l eadership,43 entrepreneurial impact, and sustained contributions to business, education, philanthropy, and44 civic life.45 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed46 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Claire Lewis47 "Yum" Arnold.48 S.
