26 LC 129 1440 Senate Resolution 986 By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Davenport of the 17th, Wicks of the 34th, Jones II of the 22nd, Halpern of the 39th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Salem High School Band; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Salem High School Band has demonstrated exceptiona l teamwork,2 dedication, and discipline throughout the 2025 season; and 3 WHEREAS, its members have dedicated innumerable hours to rehearsals, performances, and4 competition while maintaining a proud tradition of excellence w ith equal emphases on5 character and academics; and6 WHEREAS, in October 2025, in a comprehensive ranking of top marching programs across7 the Metro Atlanta area, Salem was recognized as one of the Top 15 programs, securing a8 high placement among dozens of competing schools; and9 WHEREAS, this ranking is a testament to the band's technical precision and showmanship10 on a regional scale; and11 WHEREAS, the band has participated in various evaluations throu ghout the 2025 season,12 consistently earning Superior ratings in categories including m usic, visual execution, and13 general effect; and 14 S. R. 986 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1440 WHEREAS, these evaluations are the "gold standard" for measurin g a program's success15 against state-wide criteria; and16 WHEREAS, due to their high scores throughout the season, Salem was featured in the17 discussions for the "Red Lobster Band of the Year" finalists, a prestigious recognition often18 reserved for programs that demonstrate elite, HBCU-style marching excellence at the high19 school level; and20 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the Salem Hig h School Band be21 appropriately honored. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body23 recognize and commend the Salem High School Band for its outstanding achievements and 24 commitment to excellence as well as extend their sincere best wishes for the band's continued25 success.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Salem High28 School Band.29 S.
