26 LC 47 4139/AP House Bill 1571 (AS PASSED HOUSE AND SENATE) By: Representatives Stephens of the 164th, Petrea of the 166th, and Franklin of the 160th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend an Act establishing the State Court of Bryan County (formerly the City Court of1 Pembroke), approved January 10, 1938 (Ga. L. 1937-38, Ex. Sess. , p. 714), as amended,2 particularly by an Act approved April 9, 1996 (Ga. L. 1996, p. 4404), so as to revise the3 terms of said court; to provide for an effective date; to provide for related matters; to repeal4 conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6 SECTION 1.7 An Act establishing the State Court of Bryan County (formerly the City Court of Pembroke),8 approved January 10, 1938 (Ga. L. 1937-38, Ex. Sess., p. 714), as amended, particularly by9 an Act approved April 9, 1996 (Ga. L. 1996, p. 4404), is amended by revising Section 11 as10 follows:11 "SECTION 11.12 The terms of said court for the trial and disposition of as cri minal and civil business of13 whatever kind or nature of which said court has jurisdiction un der the laws and14 Constitution of the State of Georgia shall be: 15 H. B. 1571 - 1 - 26 LC 47 4139/AP (1) For criminal trials, four regular terms commencing on the second day of January and16 on the first day of April, July, and October of each year; and17 (2) For civil trials, monthly commencing on the first day of each month.18 At the January, April, July, and October terms a jury shall be summoned, and a jury may19 be summoned at such other times as in the discretion of the chi ef judge, or judges of the20 court collectively, as it may become necessary for the trial of cases pending in said court."21 SECTION 2.22 This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2026.23 SECTION 3.24 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.25 H.
