A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the National Council of Negro Women Inc.—Georgia State1
Coalition; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the National Council of Negro Women Inc. (NCNW) was founded in 1935 by3
Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune to serve as a unified voice for African American women, their4
families, and communities, and it continues to advance equity, leadership, and opportunity5
across the nation; and6
WHEREAS, the NCNW Georgia State Coalition represents a network of dedicated sections7
across the State of Georgia working to improve the quality of l ife for women, children,8
families, and communities through education, advocacy, and civic engagement; and9
WHEREAS, the members of the NCNW Georgia State Coalition have d emonstrated a10
longstanding commitment to public service by promoting voter ed ucation, health equity,11
economic empowerment, educational advancement, and social justi ce initiatives that12
strengthen communities throughout Georgia; and13
WHEREAS, the Coalition's Day at the Capitol provides an importa nt opportunity for14
members from across the state to engage with elected officials, learn about the legislative15

process, and advocate for policies that support the well-being and advancement of Georgia's16
diverse communities; and17
WHEREAS, through initiatives such as civic education, legislati ve advocacy, and18
community partnerships, the NCNW Georgia State Coalition continues to empower citizens19
to participate in the democratic process and work collaboratively to build a stronger, more20
equitable Georgia; and21
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor the invaluable contr ibutions of the National22
Council of Negro Women and recognize its leadership in promotin g civic responsibility,23
community engagement, and social progress throughout the State of Georgia.24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25
the members of this body recognize and commend the National Council of Negro Women26
Inc.—Georgia State Coalition for its dedication to service and advocacy and extend best27
wishes for a successful NCNW Georgia Day at the Capitol.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the30
public and the press.31
