26 LC 112 3958 House Resolution 1758 By: Representatives Kahaian of the 81st, Byrd of the 20th, Gambill of the 15th, Santos of the 117th, and Clark of the 100th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and legacy of Reverend Lucious H. Edmondson, III; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Reverend Lucious H. Edmondson, III, affectionately kno wn as "Chaplain3 Luke," a beloved servant leader of the Henry County community, passed away peacefully4 at his home in McDonough, Georgia, on March 8, 2026, at the age of 91; and5 WHEREAS, Reverend Edmondson was born on June 12, 1934, and afte r attending North6 Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia, he answered the call to serve his nation by joining7 the United States Marine Corps, serving two years on active duty and an additional six years8 in the Marine Corps Reserves; and9 WHEREAS, Reverend Edmondson dedicated more than five decades of faithful service as10 the Henry County Jail Chaplain, providing spiritual guidance, c ompassion, and hope to11 countless individuals during some of the most difficult moments of their lives; and12 WHEREAS, in the early 1970s, Reverend Edmondson founded Team Jesus Ministries, Inc.,13 an ecumenical, nondenominational Christian ministry that began as a Christian Motor Cross14 racing outreach and grew into a wide-ranging network of ministries including jail and prison15 H. R. 1758 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3958 ministries, street ministries, hospital and senior home chaplai ncies, cancer patient support16 ministries, children's ministries, and corporate chaplain services; and17 WHEREAS, through Team Jesus Ministries, Reverend Edmondson helped inspire and equip18 generations of Christian leaders, licensing and ordaining more than 200 ministers who19 continue to serve communities across the nation; and20 WHEREAS, Reverend Edmondson's lifelong commitment to faith, service, and compassion21 profoundly touched the lives of countless men and women in Henr y County and beyond,22 leaving a legacy of ministry, mentorship, and spiritual leaders hip that will endure for23 generations; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding life and public service25 of this remarkable citizen be appropriately recognized.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body honor the life and legacy of Reverend Lucious H. Edmondson, III,28 recognize his extraordinary service to the people of Henry County and the State of Georgia,29 and extend their deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and a ll those whose lives he30 touched.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the33 family of Reverend Lucious H.
